The 14th China Shengzhong Lake International Fishing Competition, which kicked off on Friday at the Shengzhong Lake Scenic Area in Nanbu county, Sichuan province, draws 1,200 athletes from 21 countries. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

Shi Zehua, president of the China Angling Association, said the association has worked with Nanbu to develop the event into an international brand.

"Shengzhong Lake is a unique natural venue for national and world-level fishing competitions. This event truly shows the charm of fishing and the beauty of Nanbu," he said.
