BEIRUT - An Israeli jet detonated on Monday a spy device planted between the southern towns of Zrariyeh and Tayr Filsay of Lebanon by firing an air-to-ground missile, the National News Agency reported.

The NNA said the attack targeted a device that was located on a Hizbullah telecommunications cable.

The report added that the western sector in southern Lebanon has since witnessed heavy overflights by Israeli warplanes above the stream of the Litani River, while Hizbullah has also cordoned off the area.

In December 2011, Israel detonated a spy device it had placed on the party's telecommunications network.

Lebanon filed at the time a complaint to the United Nations over the Israeli spy device deeming it a "blatant violation of the country's sovereignty and Security Council Resolution 1701 and a threat to international peace and security."
