BEIJING -- Envoys to the six-party talks Thursday are continuing negotiations in an effort to minimize their differences over verification rules for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) nuclear program.

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met the chief negotiators of the other five parties to the nuclear talks after a separate meeting with the US delegation Thursday morning.

The six parties so far have not made substantial progress after three-days of intensive negotiation on how to verify the DPRK's declaration of its past nuclear activities, the key issue of this week's nuclear disarmament talks which started on Monday in Beijing after a five-month suspension.

On Wednesday, envoys of the United States, China, and the DPRK held one-on-one meetings in the morning followed by consultations between China, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Japan in the afternoon.

China's top negotiator, Wu Dawei, said Monday at the opening ceremony that the talks would focus on three major issues including verification, continuous implementation of the second-phase action plan, and the establishment of a peace and security mechanism in northeast Asia.
