Metro volunteer service for the Universiade began in the Children's Palace of Shenzhen on Monday, August 1. Roughly 3,500 volunteers will walk into 118 subway stations to provide volunteer services for Universiade athletes, audiences and citizens.

Lu Ruifeng, deputy mayor of Shenzhen Municipal city, declared the launching ceremony. He said that metro volunteers play an important role in supplementing Shenzhen's transportation service.

Shenzhen extended four metro lines and opened a new one in June,?with more 52 million people having commuted using it ever since. Metro volunteers will provide services in route guidance, transferring, ticket buying and consulting.
