HAVANA - Olympic champion and world record holder Dayron Robles is fit to compete in upcoming international track and field meets, a top Cuban sports official said Friday.

Director of the Cuban Track and Field Federation Jesus Molina said Robles was "fully recovered from the injury in his attacking (left) leg" and would soon return to competition.

The 110m hurdles star missed recent Diamond League meets in Eugene, Oregon, and New York after he suffered the "slight" injury.

Robles is expected to show up in events in Poland on June 25 and Paris on July 6. His world mark of 12.87 seconds was matched by China's Liu Xiang, though in wind-aided condition, at the IAAF Prefontaine Classic event in Eugene.

Robles, 25, is the star of Cuba's 33-member track and field delegation heading to the 2012 London Olympics in July, though he has participated in only three international events so far and is in seventh place in world rankings.

His race against Liu Xiang is one of the most anticipated events in London, after which Robles said he plans to retire from the track.

Robles garnered one of the two gold medals Cuba won at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, when he finished in 12.93 seconds, close to the world record he set in Ostrava, Czech Republic in June 2008.
