HANOI - China beat Australia with 3-1 in the 4th game of the AFC Under-19 Women's Football Championship 2011 in southern Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, securing a place at next year's FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Uzbekistan.

Wang Tingting nodded China into a half-time lead and Yao Shuangyan doubled their advantage midway through the second period. Emily Van Egmond pulled a goal back with just under ten minutes to go to give Australia hope of a comeback in a game they realistically had to win if they were to maintain their World Cup dream, but that was extinguished immediately when Ni Mengjie netted China's third to retain their unbeaten record at the AFC U- 19 Women's Championship.

Australia enjoyed the majority of the possession but was unable to make it count as China time and again caught them on the break with Yin's game plan proving highly effective.

China coach Yin Tiesheng said a fine counter-attacking performance is key to victory.

"We worked very hard in the last three matches but because we had a lot of stress and pressure we did not perform very well, but this time, we played very well," he said.

With Japan overcoming DPRK 2-1, it means China still have a chance to lift the AFC U-19 Women's Championship trophy when they play in their final game on October 16.
