DOHA - Li Ping of China regarded the city Doha as her lucky place as she has already taken two gold medals from the 15th Asian Games on Saturday, the first day after the official opening of the Games.

"I like Doha, and it is my lucky place to win gold medals," Li said excited while packing after the competition.

The 18-year-old Li beat a field of strongwomen to win the women 's 53kg weightlifting gold medal at the Asiad on Saturday, after she shone in the 2005 world championships in Doha by winning the gold.

"The worlds gold medal and the Asian gold medal are both important to me, but what I want most is one gold medal in the Beijing Olympics," Li added.

Li Ping snatched up 98kg and lifted 126kg for a winning total of 224kg for the gold medal in Doha.

"The result is not as good as I have expected. I still need time to improve my technique. If I lifted like this in 2008, I would not win the Olympic gold," Li said honestly.

"Li Ping is one of the most hard-working strongwomen I have ever seen and she is very potential," said Ma Wenguang, president of the Chinese Weightlifting Association.

"If her technique in weightlifting improves, she would make a shot in the Beijing Olympics," he added.
