Josie Pearson broke her neck, aged 17, in a car crash [Paralympics GB]

 

Britain’s first female wheelchair rugby player to compete in the Paralympics speaks to Josephine McDermott.

Josie Pearson, 22, says it hasn’t been an easy journey, but she is honored to be the first woman to compete for Great Britain in the rough and tumble event also known as ‘murderball’.



Josie’s male counterparts competing in their league final last year. Josie says she is not treated any differently on the court as a woman. [Paralympics GB]


The Great British wheelchair rugby team will play in the following Open Group games:


Friday, September 12, 20.00, Great Britain vs. New Zealand

Saturday, September 13, 20.00, Great Britain vs. Germany

Sunday, September 14, 18.00, Australia vs. Great Britain
