A traditional-style temple fair will open at Mengshan Mountain scenic area in Taiyuan on Feb 5, the date of this year's Spring Festival.
The annual event is being held for the second time and will feature stage performances, specialty foods, and lantern shows for 20 days, concluding on Feb 24 –– the twentieth day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
There will be eight themed lantern shows taking place from 8:00 to 20:30 every day and nine major performances including yangko (a popular folk dance), lion dancing, stilt walking and opera are set to wow visitors.
In addition, special exhibitions on local cultural traditions, such as paper cutting, clay sculpting, sugar painting and ceramics will be on offer at the event.
