An inn in the old city of Pingyao, a small town in central Shanxi province whose history goes back 2,700 years, was listed among the top 10 featured folk custom inns in China for 2015, the Pingyao county tourism bureau announced on Jan 13.
The Dechaoge Inn, located opposite the Rishengchang exchange shop, the first draft bank in China, is in a very core area of the old city. It was built on the former site of the Baofenglong exchange shop?that keeps?the original architectural style intact. The inn is now able to show both traditional Chinese culture and the culture of Shanxi merchants.
The old city of Pingyao was added to the list of world cultural heritages in 1997 and so far it has 20 noted folk inns.
