The city of Qingdao, Shandong province, sent a delegation to the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on Dec 18, where they met with Teresa Woo-Paw, an associate minister of the province's International and Intergovernmental Relations Dep't, and the mayor of Edmonton, Don Iveson.

Liu Mingjun, Qingdao's deputy mayor and head of the delegation, described his city's economic and social development for the hosts and projects where it is cooperating with Canada and thanked the Canadian province's government for its support for Qingdao investments.

Woo-Paw described Alberta's economic advantages and oil resources and expressed an interest in greater cooperation with Qingdao.

Liu explained that the two cities have enjoyed their exchanges and growth in trade after becoming sister cities in 2001, which the Canadians backed up by showing their interest in further cooperation with Qingdao and plans to visit the city next year.

The delegation also had a look at a Sino-Canada Natural Gas Park, backed by Qingdao's Sinosky Energy (Holdings) Co, which has attracted other Chinese enterprises in the natural gas chemicals and photovoltaics industries.
