More than 100,000 domestic and foreign visitors went to the 2013 Haiyun Nunnery Candied Haw Festival in Qingdao, Shandong province, on March 2, the first Saturday after its opening. Dating back 500 years, the festival is one of China's top 10 folk custom and culture festivals. It is held around Lantern Festival every year and includes activities such as candied haw sales, folk-custom performances and commodity fairs.
