Chifeng tourism bureau unveiled winter travel routes for Beijing residents on Oct 24.

Located in the southeast of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the city offers prairie culture in northern China.

Mountains, deserts, grasslands, hot spring and lakes are among the best offerings of Chifeng.

The city's tourism bureau introduced six travel routes for Beijing residents. They include a two-day hot-spring experience, two- or three-day tours combining hunting and hot springs, and a three-day folk customs and desert experience.

Chifeng has more than 7,300 historical sites, six national forest parks and seven national natural reserves, local tourism officials say.

Over the years, the city has developed mature tourism products, featuring prairie sightseeing, cultural and folk customs experiences, hot spring treatments and snow and ice entertainment.

The city is 400 kilometers away from Beijing. Visitors can go there by airplane, train or automobile.

A high-speed rail connection between Beijing and Chifeng will be built in 2019, tourism officials say.
