Updated: 2014-04-10

North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is to invest more than 60 billion yuan ($9.69 billion) to improve public services in the region’s rural and pastoral areas over the next three years..

Through this investment, a total of 520,000 substandard houses in Inner Mongolia will be rebuilt, and the reconstruction of dangerous housing in 19 areas and counties along the border should be finished in 2014. The fund will also help to solve the unsafe drinking water problems for farmers and herdsmen as well as optimize public transport.

At present, nearly 6,000 administrative villages in the region have no clinic; however, this situation will be changed thanks to the fund. The region’s other tasks in the 3-year period include expanding the coverage of commercial networks in rural and pastoral areas and increasing the beneficial old age allowance.

In order to achieve all these goals, Inner Mongolia will raise funds through multiple channels to meet the need. Meanwhile, it will strengthen its supervision and assessment to guarantee these projects operating to a high standard and high quality.
