Changsha Huaxia Experimental School was built as a boarding school in 1999 in the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, with funding from the Hunan Huaxia Science and Technology Development Investment Co and Changsha Education Bureau approval.

It has convenient transportation, a good environment, and modern teaching equipment, with all the classrooms equipped with a projector and multimedia system for the Internet, broadcasting, and monitoring, as well as microcomputers and labs.

The dorms have air conditioning, and there are doctors and security personnel standing by on a 24-hour basis. The school also provides a bus service on weekends.

More than 80 percent of the students these days have gone to major local middle schools and some of the graduates end up being admitted to such schools as Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, the University of Washington in the US, and University of Nottingham, UK.
