The right piles of Bamako No 3 Bridge finished

The bridge lies in Bamako, the capital of the Republic of Mali, and spans the River Niger. The two-way, four-lane bridge is 2,294 meters long, with its main part 1,626.5m-long, and 24 meters wide, and will be finished in three years.

With the total value of contract reaching 345.9 million yuan ($56.98 million), it is China’s largest aid project in West Africa. CGGC became the contractor of the project on Nov 14, 2008, and officially started the construction in February, 2009.

The bridge has 69 arches and 68 pairs of piles. To fulfill the construction task, the project technical team of CGGC has reasonably allocated resources and made orderly arrangement from the beginning. Thanks to that, this team has finished the grouting of 61 piles by Feb 2, 2010, among which right piles have been all finished and left ones are constructed one by one from the two banks to the center of the riverbed.

Officials of Mali Government and local residents are pleasantly surprised to see that piles at both sides are linked up in such a short period, and praise the first-class construction technique and strength of CGGC.
