Tongling, a city in East China hailed as the "Copper Capital", is wooing investors from all around the world for a copper building project worth an estimated 210 million yuan ($33 million), Anhui Business Daily reported.
According to plans, the project, covering a total area of 26,000 square meters, follows the traditional Huizhou style. The major part of the 2,000-square-meter copper house will feature a skylight.
The building, including its decorations and furniture, is designed to be made of nothing but copper.
Upon completion, it will be opened to tourists as well as copper craftwork enthusiasts and dealers. It is predicted to bring in an annual profit of 20 million yuan, according to the newspaper.
The project is expected to cost 210 million yuan, roughly 52.3 percent of which will be raised by the local government. The balance, amounting to 100 million yuan, will be made up by investors, the media outlet said, citing local official sources.
"Construction will probably kick off in July," said a source responsible for the project.
