Dog bites girl to death; owner to compensate

The owner of a dog that bit a 4-year-old girl causing her death in Pingyuan county, Guangdong province, was ordered to pay compensation of 130,000 yuan ($19,030) last Thursday.

The girl died of rabies 10 days after the dog bit her in April.

Ruling in favor of the deceased girl's family, the Pingyuan county people's court said the dog owner, who hails from a village in the Dongshi township, will have to bear the responsibility of his pet's actions.
