英語(yǔ)中有一些看起來(lái)極為相似的詞組，不同之處僅僅在于是否含有定冠詞the。小心了，有時(shí)它們表示的意義并不同。

1. 詞組in the front of和in front of都有“在……前面”的意思，但含義不同。in the front of表示“在……（范圍內(nèi)的）前面”；而in front of表示“在……（范圍外的）前面”。如：

He likes to sit in the front of the classroom.
他喜歡坐在教室的前排。

There is a pond in front of the house.
房屋前面有個(gè)池塘。

2. At table意為“吃飯；進(jìn)餐”；at the table意為“在桌邊”。如：

He seldom talks at table.
他吃飯時(shí)很少說(shuō)話(huà)。

We sat at the table，talking.
我們坐在桌邊交談。

3. Go to school意為“開(kāi)始求學(xué)；到校上課”；go to the school意為“去學(xué)校（但不一定是上學(xué)）?！比纾?/p>

He usually goes to school by bike.
他通常騎自行車(chē)到校上課。

His mother often goes to the school to see him.
他的媽媽經(jīng)常去學(xué)校看他。

4. In charge of（=take charge of），意為“主管；看管；在……看管之下”，主語(yǔ)是人；in the charge of意為“負(fù)責(zé)管理；負(fù)責(zé)照料”，主語(yǔ)是事物（物）。如：

Miss?Wang was in charge of our class.
王老師負(fù)責(zé)管理我們班級(jí)。

Our class was in the charge of?Miss Wang.
我們班級(jí)由王老師負(fù)責(zé)管理。

5. At sight意為“一看見(jiàn)就”，一般放在句末；at the sight of意為“在看到……時(shí)”，可放在名首或句末。如：

He plays music at sight.
他即時(shí)看譜演奏。

At the sight of the police officers the thief ran off.
小偷一看見(jiàn)警察就跑了。

6. Go to sea意為“出海，當(dāng)水手（=become a sailor）”；go to the sea意為“去海邊”。如：

When he was a boy，his greatest wish was to go to sea.
他小時(shí)候最大的愿望就是去當(dāng)水手。

He went to the sea for a holiday.
他去海邊度假了。
