During his visit to Changji Hui autonomous prefecture, Hu urged the local government to use new technology in cotton production, explore new management methods, and improve the income for cotton farmers. Hu also inspected the planting of walnuts at a forest farm in Wensu County.
At a village in Aksu, Hu saw newly-built houses designed to resist to earthquakes and promised that the government will implement more effective measures to get local farmers rich.
A farmer presented an embroidered Uygur cap to Hu as a gift.
