先生答曰：結(jié)果是"They threw the book at him"。我不禁詫異，想像著他被"砸書"的樣子。原來并非如此，"Throw the book at somebody"是指給某人最大極限的懲罰：charge someone to the full range of law。如果法律是一本書，那么這本書中所有被違犯了的條例，他都將為之遭受最嚴重的懲罰。
