Numerous pacts for EU-China summit
By Qin Jize (China Daily)
Updated: 2005-09-02 05:36

Tony Blair will remain in China on Tuesday for a visit and then fly to India on Wednesday for a similar event. It is reported that his spokesman said the visit was an opportunity for the British prime minister to get a first hand experience of some of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Responding to the ongoing Japanese election campaign, Qin said he is not in the position to make any comment since it is Japan's internal affair. However, Qin noted that no matter who the new Japanese leader will be, he hoped bilateral relations could develop continually in the spirit of "taking history as a mirror and facing forward to the future."

It is a persistent stance that China opposes Japanese political figures' visits to the Yasukuni Shrine, where wartime Japanese criminals were honoured.
