Get down to brass tacks

其實(shí)"get down to brass tacks"更有些像中國成語中的鄭人以繩量足買履。 Don't guess, get down to brass tacks."(別亂估計(jì),用銅釘量清楚了。)

到現(xiàn)在,這個詞的意思就演變?yōu)椤坝懻搶?shí)質(zhì)問題”(to talk about the essentials)。

Let's get down to brass tacks. Who is going to pay for the broken window?

The General wanted to get down to brass tacks. He wanted to know how many soldiers had died in the battle.(將軍想了解實(shí)質(zhì)性問題——這場戰(zhàn)役中到底死了多少士兵。)
