HK MTR reinforces safety measures after arson attack

Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway ( MTR) Corporate held a press briefing on Tuesday to talk about the whole course of Monday's arson attack and the reinforcement of safety measures after the accident.

According to a spokesman of the MTR, 150 more manpower are deployed at stations to check suspected luggages.

The driver, Edmond Cheung, who encountered the accident said that there should be closed-circuit television installed in compartments and passengers should be taught how to use the emergency communication device.

The spokesman said that the company provides training and set up examination related to compartment safety for drivers every year.

The arson attack happened on Monday and the 14 injured passengers are now all discharged from the hospital.

A 55-year-old man suspected to be connected with the accident was arrested late Monday night and still being detained for inquiries.
