The original Chinese musical A Chant for Two Springs will be staged in Guangdong province's capital Guangzhou in June.

The tearjerker is based on the legendary experiences of the famous blind erhu performer Hua Yanjun. The heroine is Hua's adopted daughter and has become a popular singer. A jealous singer digs up and publicizes the rising star's secrets at a big performance, causing the heroine to fall off the stage.

The songs include famous Chinese folk music, such as Hua's erhu melody The Moon Reflected in Two Springs. Others blend modern Western music and Chinese folk tunes.

The musical has toured the country and has been staged more than 100 times since its 2011 debut.
