Food poisioning feared

Two teachers and 253 students fell ill from suspected food poisoning on Thursday, authorities said on Friday. The victims from Hui People Middle School in Baotou began complaining of stomach pains and vomiting around 3:30 pm after eating lunch in the school's dining hall. All are being treated in a hospital and are improving, said a Baotou government spokesman. Around 3,000 students eat lunch at the school's dining hall and the victims who got sick received their meals from the same food counter. Kitchen workers from the counter are in police custody.
