Gong Ke, president of Nankai University, admitted he moonlights at other jobs during an interview on Monday.

Rather than seeing moonlighting as a distraction from his work, Gong thinks university presidents having part-time jobs reflects the need for experts in various organizations. Some part-time jobs value his expertise in certain fields or his management ability and others value him as a university president.

Gong said, two things need to be avoided when moonlighting: one is having too many part-time jobs as that may distract people from their original work; the other is that a university president should not personally take advantage of his post.
