China's disciplinarians turn graft into art

( Xinhua ) Updated: 2013-11-08 15:57:51

BEIJING - The Communist Party of China's top discipline watchdog is collecting anti-corruption cartoons nationwide and plans an exhibition .

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China announced the project, which continues until November 30, on its website.

The website shows some antigraft cartoons by farmers in Qiuxian county in north China's Hebei Province. People in the county have a tradition of drawing cartoons. Supported by the local government, residents have made more than 6,000 pieces of antigraft art. Those on the CCDI website focus on official promotions, overseas trips and thrift as well as featuring plenty of "tigers" and "flies" - corrupt officials, both high and low.

The online exhibition should appeal to the general public and draw on people's wisdom to fight corruption, said professor Liu Xiaoying of the Communication University of China. The war against corruption is a systematic project. Its victory depends on the strength of mechanisms and law, he added.
