BEIJING: The Biographic Literature Society of China (BLSC) has set up a committee to help protect the rights and interests of the country's biographers by law.

Biographical works had boomed due to growing interest in the country's modern history and issues, said Wan Bo'ao, president of the society.

The law committee would help Chinese biographers better understand the law and their legal rights, while trying to help protect their rights in writing, trading and publishing, said Wan.

The society had received a donation of 100,000 yuan ($14,600) from the De Heng Law Offices, a law firm with offices across China and overseas.

The BLSC was established in Beijing in 1991.
