BEIJING: China on Tuesday urged related nations to stick to dialogue when dealing with the Korean nuclear issue.

"We would like to make joint efforts with all relevant parties to bring the Korean nuclear issue back on the track of dialogue at an early date,"  Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told the regular press briefing.

Jiang made the call when asked to comment on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s latest claim about its nuclear weapons program.

In a letter sent to the United Nations by the DPRK permanent representative last Thursday, the DPRK said the "experimental uranium enrichment has successfully been conducted to enter into completion phase."

"We expect relevant parties to have a big picture, continue the denuclearization process and safeguard peace and stability in Korean Peninsula and northeast Asia," Jiang said.

The six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue have been stalled since the last round in Beijing last December.

Initiated in 2003, the talks involve China, the DPRK, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan.
