The city has taken all necessary control and prevention measures, said Deng Ying, director with the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Deng made the remarks a day after the city confirmed the second A/H1N1 positive case, which was the fifth on China's mainland.

The man, a 21-year-old Chinese-Canadian, arrived in Beijing Saturday afternoon aboard a direct Air Canada flight AC031 from Toronto.

His parents picked him up from the airport and he remained at home for most of the time, except for staying overnight at his grandmother's home  Saturday and having a meal with friends and relatives, said Deng.

The patient developed a fever and cough Tuesday morning and went to the General Hospital of the Armed Police Forces at 6:30 p.m.. He was transferred to the Beijing Ditan Hospital Wednesday noon, where he tested positive for A/H1N1 flu and was quarantined.

There have been no flu symptoms among those who had contact with the young man, and his parents are feeling well so far, said Deng.

Both confirmed patients had little contact with people after arrival, he said.

The city won't raise disease alert level as the flu situation remained under control, according to the official.
