Chemical plant blast in SW China, casualties unknown

NANNING -- An explosion occurred in a chemical plant in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region at 6:00 am on Tuesday, government officials said.

There was no immediate word on casualties and residents were being evacuated for fear of further blasts and possible chemical leaks.
