FANCHANG, Anhui -- Six trapped miners were rescued on Sunday, but one person is still missing after an iron ore mine collapsed in east China's Anhui Province on Tuesday.

The cave-in at the Yangchong Iron Mine in Fanchang County, of Wuhu City, happened at around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday when falling rock and mud blocked access to the shaft.

After being trapped underground for more than 110 hours, the six miners emerged at around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and were taken straight to hospital.

Doctors said they were not yet able to properly assess their conditions.

Most of the miners, aged 29 to 55, were local villagers, said an official of the Anhui Provincial Work Safety Administration.

More than 20 rescuers are searching for the last trapped miner.

The owner of the mine, Wang Yuanfa, has been in police custody since Tuesday night.

The privately-owned iron ore mine was built in 1987. It was renovated this year with a designed output of 30,000 tons annually.
