Yiwu becomes international dry port

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-05-06 17:37

Yiwu in Zhejiang province has been listed as an international dry port.

The listing came during the 69th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

The session, held from April 25 to May 1, passed the Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports, which lists Yiwu as one of 17 international dry ports in China.

The city will enjoy more favorable and convenient policies in terms of customs clearance in the Asia-Pacific region, according to Zhao Pinwei, director of the city's news office.

"Yiwu will enjoy a higher international position in trade and services in the future, which will also help improve the city's efforts in reforming international trade patterns," he said.

In March 2011, Yiwu was approved as a national experimental city for international trade reform. Since then, it has been striving to build a multifunction dry port to reinforce its international trading strengths.
