China's retail sales up 16.9% in May

BEIJING -- China's retail sales of consumer goods rose 16.9 percent year-on-year to 1.47 trillion yuan ($226.77 billion) in May this year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Tuesday.
