iQIYI celebrates achievements and strategic growth in Macao
The 11th iQIYI Scream Night awards ceremony took center stage at Macao's Galaxy Arena on Dec 6, recognizing outstanding achievements in Chinese online entertainment. The event presented 63 awards across six major content categories, including television dramas, variety shows, and films, with viewership reaching hundreds of millions globally.
The ceremony honored the year's most popular and critically acclaimed productions. In the television category, period drama Thriving Land secured the Top Drama of the Year award, while contemporary series Rose Finch was named Short Drama of the Year. The variety show segment saw The King of Stand-up Comedy 2 receive the Influential Show of the Year honor. Crime action film The Shadow's Edge — recognized as one of the highest-rated Chinese films in its genre over the past decade — was awarded Film of the Year.
A significant focus of this year's event was the integration of technology and storytelling. iQIYI presented awards from its inaugural AI Short Film Competition, a collaborative project with ByteDance and Google aimed at exploring generative AI in film-making. The platform also highlighted the most engaging virtual characters from its AI-powered "Taodou World" interactive feature, showcasing the company's investment in next-generation entertainment formats.
Complementing the main ceremony, iQIYI added to the fan experience with a two-day "Scream Carnival" at the Galaxy International Convention Center. The carnival featured live performances, exclusive content previews, and immersive exhibitions, attracting thousands of attendees and enhancing direct audience engagement.
In a move signaling deeper industry commitments, iQIYI and Galaxy Arena announced on Dec 9 an extention of their strategic partnership for another three years. The agreement aims to foster increased collaboration in large-scale event production, original content development, and variety show filming. This partnership strengthens iQIYI's offline entertainment footprint while aligning with Macao's broader initiative to establish itself as a "City of Performing Arts" in the region.
