The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday reaffirmed that China's training activities in relevant maritime and air areas comply with international law and customary practice, and that related operations are professional, standard, and beyond reproach, after Japan once again hyped allegations of "radar illumination".

At a regular news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China has already made its position clear and that the facts are abundantly evident.

He noted that it is standard practice for carrier-based aircraft to activate search radars during flight training, as this is a normal operation to ensure flight safety.

"I would suggest that our friends from the media ask the Japanese side why its Self-Defense Force fighter jets appeared in the relevant area and created a dangerous incident that should never have occurred," Guo said. "Were they deliberately disrupting China's normal training activities and stirring up tensions?"
