Binhu district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, has recently launched drone delivery of medical supplies following drone food delivery.
On Oct 28, the district's high-tech drone logistics company, Helios Tech, entered into a strategic partnership with several medical institutions in Wuxi, including Wuxi Mingde Hospital, to launch the Airborne Medical Service for tourists.
This service covers tourist attractions like Yuantouzhu Scenic Area and Lihu Lake, along with the full Mashan area. It can deliver medical supplies and equipment to tourists in need within just seven minutes.
Binhu district, a major tourist destination around Taihu Lake, accounts for nearly 90 percent of Wuxi's cultural and tourism attractions, drawing many visitors each year. During holidays, these sites become crowded, increasing the risk of sudden illnesses or flare-ups of chronic conditions. The traditional medical stations in scenic areas are limited by fixed locations, slow response times, and inadequate supplies, which restrict their capacity to address urgent medical needs.
Tourists can request help through the Helios Tech mini-program for the Airborne Medical Service. The hospital promptly receives the request, and the Helios Tech low-altitude service platform swiftly arranges the delivery. Following an online consultation, drones are sent to deliver emergency medical supplies.
The service offers more than just delivering medical supplies. Its app platform features a phone contact option, enabling the medical team to communicate directly with patients through accompanying personnel during drone deliveries. This enables a preliminary and comprehensive assessment of the patient's condition.
