The photography exhibition Echoes of Green Mountains is being held at the 535 Art Center in Shanghai until Oct 12. It features over 200 vintage photographs that showcase the history and evolution of the Jianxi Forestry District, a major timber production base from the 1950s located in Shunchang county, Fujian province.

Since its establishment in 1958, the Jianxi Forestry District became a significant driver of the local economy, attracting hundreds of thousands of young workers from across the country. Over the past six decades, this former timber production hub has transformed into a forest nature reserve, attracting 100,000 visitors annually.

The exhibition is organized by the China Ecological Cultural Association, the Shunchang government, the Shanghai International Design and Innovation Institute of Tongji University, and the Institute of Culture and Natural Heritage of Beijing Forestry University. It provides a comprehensive overview of Jianxi's early development and its transformation in the modern era.

At the exhibition's opening ceremony, Ma Zhihua, secretary-general of the China Ecological Culture Association, remarked that the exhibition vividly illustrates the concept "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and expressed hope that it will empower green development.
