Dunhuang sets global standard for cultural heritage preservation
Dunhuang has enhanced the display of China's technological innovation and integrated practices in the field of cultural heritage conservation, contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions that offer valuable references for the protection of global civilizational heritage.
From September 20 to 22, the eighth Dunhuang Cultural Expo was held in the northwestern city in Gansu province. The Dunhuang Academy showcased its achievements in establishing a leading center for Dunhuang studies and setting a benchmark for cultural heritage conservation.
In building a model for cultural heritage conservation, the Dunhuang Academy focused on key technologies for the protection of murals, cave temples, and earthen sites. It has undertaken 96 national-level research projects and developed 27 industry standards.
