Jishou city in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture, Hunan province, has a specialized bus route designed to bring farmers directly to a vegetable market, effectively solving their last-mile transportation problem.
With local vegetables in peak season, the vegetable bases are bustling. At dusk, a green bus filled with fresh vegetables and farmers heads towards the Bayuelou farmers market 15 kilometers away.
Launched in May last year, this service allows farmers to reach the market directly with a bus fare of just 2 yuan ($0.28) and an additional 1 yuan fee per bag of vegetables.
