Guangxi chairman faces investigation
Lan Tianli, chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, was put under investigation for serious violations of discipline and law, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, the country's top anti-graft bodies, announced on Friday. Lan, 62, a Zhuang ethnic group member, graduated from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He became deputy director of the Guangxi Science and Technology Department in 1998. In 2011, Lan became vice-chairman of the autonomous regional government, rising to the role of chairman in 2021. Media reports indicate that over the weekend, Lan conducted survey in the cities of Hechi, Baise, and Chongzuo in Guangxi.
Ex-deputy governor sentenced to life term
Wang Yixin, former deputy governor of Heilongjiang province, was sentenced to life imprisonment for taking bribes totaling 129 million yuan ($17.9 million), the Intermediate People's Court of Heze city in Shandong province announced on Friday. According to the court, Wang took advantage of his various positions from 2008 to 2020 to help companies and people in such matters as business contracting, land development and promotion of positions. He accepted property and money totaling over 129 million yuan directly or through other people.
