China's first all-electric maritime tourism passenger ship, the Yujian 77, was recently launched at the Fu'ning Shipyard in Ningde. It is scheduled to start operating in July.

The cruise ship is financed through a leasing arrangement by the Qihangzhongyu Leasing (Xiamen) Co Ltd of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone and will be operated by Marine Tourism Passenger Transport Co Ltd.

With a capacity of 358 passengers, this innovative vessel boasts a fully battery-powered system offering a range of 55 nautical miles (102 kilometers), sufficient for four nighttime cruises.

Compared to traditional fuel-powered ships, its "green engine" reduces annual fuel consumption by nearly 250 metric tons, cutting CO2 emissions by over 400 tons and slashing emissions of harmful gases like sulfur and nitrogen oxides by nearly six tons.

The ship offers leisure, sightseeing, conferences, dining, private charters and more. Its electric propulsion is completely silent, providing passengers with a quieter and more comfortable cruise experience. This groundbreaking vessel represents a significant step forward in sustainable maritime tourism.
