Foshan city COVID-19 patient had tested negative

A new locally-transmitted COVID-19 patient was detected in Foshan, Guangdong province, on Friday, after one such case was reported on Thursday.
The latest patient, an 83-year-old man, lived in Zhonghaijincheng residential community in Guicheng subdistrict, Nanhai district, according to the epidemic control authority of Foshan.
He had tested negative in multiple nucleic acid tests and his community has been placed under closed management since June 4.
On Thursday, he was put under centralized medical observation as a confirmed infection was diagnosed in his building.
On Friday, he tested positive for the virus and now is being treated at a designated hospital.
Prior to Thursday, Foshan had posted no new local patient case since June 5 in this round of outbreaks, which started on May 27, with the latest two cases bringing the total to 12.
