I think it is good to keep Yuanmingyuan as it now is. It serves as a reminder about what happened in history even though it's not a pretty sight. I have visited Yuanmingyuan and subsequently also learned how it got destroyed. What's the point of preserving or replicating a beautiful garden palace?
