The Seventh International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage kicked off on Thursday in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

More than 40 performing groups from home and abroad showed their stuff for some 3,000 spectators during the festival's opening ceremony.

Performances included the Hawaiian hula dance from the United States, the Lanzhou Taiping Drum from Northwest China's Gansu province and the Luzhou Color Dragon Dance from Sichuan.

Titled "Inherit Brilliant Culture and Relish a Great Life," the six-day event will draw 64 performing teams from 21 countries to give performances pertaining to intangible cultural heritage.
