Showcasing 40 years of Chinese reform and opening-up

A political documentary focusing on 40 years of Chinese reform will next week screen at primetime on China's flagship channel.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, new series The Inevitable Course will feature eight episodes and will premiere on CCTV-1 on December 11.
The series will present a panoramic review of the 40-year history of reform and will showcase how socialism with Chinese characteristics has been achieved through the long-term efforts of the Party and the people.
The Inevitable Course will also explore why reform and opening-up is considered key to upholding socialism in the country, and why both have been central to the development of contemporary China.
The series will highlight the importance of reform and opening-up to the nation's Two Centenary Goals, which are to finish building a moderately prosperous society by the Communist Party of China’s centenary in 2021, and to turn China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, and harmonious by the time the People’s Republic of China celebrates its centenary in 2049.
