32 years ago, in 1986, Chinese people got their first glimpse of the outside world only by watching television at home -- Yue-Sai Kan’s “One World”.
The 15-minute first travel program on Chinese television, which aired twice a week in Chinese and then in English, brought Western society closer to an audience of 300 million Chinese every week.
Yue-Sai also “colorized” the country by launching her first cosmetics products bearing her name in 1992. “The key word is ‘ready’. They want gaige kaifang (reform and opening-up),” Kan said.
