Linyi professor removed for harassment

Linyi University in Shandong province has decided to remove a teacher who was revealed to have harassed several female students, from his associate professor post and stop his teaching work, according to an announcement posted on the university’s Sina Weibo account on Saturday.
Zheng Mingzhang, born in 1967, was a teacher at the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Linyi University. His behavior was exposed by a female student, who went to his home to visit him in June after she learnt Zheng broke a bone. The student said Zheng verbally harassed her and offered to have sex with her at his home, according to Ynet.com. The student posted part of their chat history online to prove Zheng harassed her, and also revealed there were other female students who had been harassed by Zheng.
The university announced the results of an investigation on its Sina Weibo account on Saturday. To enforce the school’s discipline and educate Zheng, the school decided to give Zheng a demerit in his personnel file, remove him from his associate professor post and stop his teaching work.
